The sun is instantly blinding as the small metal plate under your feet raises you into the dreaded arena. After thinking for days of the worst possibilities that could await you, you open your eyes fully to take in your surroundings. Across from you is a huge, dark forest. The amount of creatures it may contain frightens you. Off in the distance is long grass in a field formation that looks like it could be good for hiding. Abruptly to the left is an instant drop-off of jagged rocks leaning over a gaping cliffside. You crane your neck to see a lake on the opposite side, and you're relieved--but also you wonder if it's safe to drink.

The final minute timer is running out. As your heart begins to pound in your chest, you look to the center where the vaulted Cornucopia stands, sending a blinding glare off of its shiny metal surface. Surrounding it are many items, like a Devil's Snare and kits for magical traps and reagents. But the only thing on your mind is a wand. You feel naked, exposed without it secure in your hand. Any wand will do, you know, but there's just something significant about it being your own. Only a witch or wizard could possibly understand. You lock eyes with your twin sister, Parvati Patil, who at least officially is another mortal enemy. The look you give each other indicates otherwise, at least for the time being. You're still standing on the metal plate weighing your options when time runs out, the ominous gong sounds, and it's time to decide.

Should you:
Run away?
Get a wand?
